JCJ van Speijk Lighthouse \u2014 Egmond aan Zee<\/h2>\n

Proud and stately it stands high on the dune: the white one JCJ van Speijk Lighthouse<\/a>. Since 1834, it has been the landmark of Egmond aan Zee and the most photographed structure in the village. In July and August, you can climb the lighthouse on Sundays (11:00 AM - 1:00 PM) and on Friday evenings (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM). At the top, a magnificent panorama awaits over the North Sea, the dunes, and the village. The structure was once chosen as a national monument in memory of Lieutenant Commander Jan van Speijk.<\/p>\n

Castle Quarter & House Egmont \u2014 Egmond aan den Hoef<\/h2>\n

In the heart of Egmond aan den Hoef you will find the Castle Quarter: a historic area with no fewer than six national monuments. Here once stood 'the largest and most beautiful castle in Holland', the ancestral castle of the Lords of Egmont, which was destroyed in 1573 during the Eighty Years' War. The foundations of the castle, the Castle Chapel from 1431, and the Castle Park can still be visited. Begin your visit at the visitor center. Every Saturday at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, you can take a guided tour, followed by a beer tasting at Proeverij Egmont, within walking distance.
